Thomas R. Hughes is a partner at Hughes & Costello, and practices in the areas of criminal law, real estate law, personal injury, and family law. Tom has over 30 years prosecution experience, working in Ramsey County. Tom has tried hundreds of jury trials and court trials, and he has handled thousands of criminal, traffic, and ordinance violation cases. Additionally, Tom handles some criminal defense cases outside of Ramsey County, and represents clients in the areas of real estate law, personal injury, and family law. Before he, with John Hughes and Martin Costello, founded the firm in 1992, Tom worked as an assistant city attorney for the City of Saint Paul from 1973 to 1975, and was the Chief Prosecutor for the City of Saint Paul from 1975 to 1979. Upon entering private practice, he continued his municipal prosecution work, and now represents the Cities of Mounds View and New Brighton, and the Minnesota State Fair. Tom also has worked as a Special Prosecutor for the City of Saint Paul and other cities on intermittent assignments.
